It's okay... You can admit it. You're
among friends here. We won't tell.
Let it out: You don't know what to
do...
Here's a simple primer for the entire
wedding party.
Bride and Groom
Planning, ideally, should be a joint effort. But once the day has
arrived, your job is to simply relax and enjoy the moment.
Maid / Matron of Honor
- Helps plan all pre-wedding parties -
showers, rehearsal dinner, etc.
- Pays for her own wedding attire
- In charge of bridesmaids’ ceremonial
duties
- Signs wedding certificate as legal
witness
- Part of the receiving line
- Hands out boutonnières and corsages
if florist does not
- Delegates to Attendants
(Bridesmaids)
Best Man
- Pays for his own wedding attire
- Drives groom to the church
- Pays the officiate at the ceremony
- Signs the wedding certificate as a
witness
- Supervises ushers who escort guests to their
seats
- Offers first toast to the bride and groom at the
reception
- Delegates to Ushers (Groomsmen)
Mother of the Bride
- Rides with the bride to the ceremony
- Acts as hostess
- Should be the first to greet the guests in the receiving
line
- Should keep the mother and father of the groom informed of plans.
Father of the Bride
- Rides with the bride to the ceremony
- Traditionally escorts daughter down the
aisle
- Receiving line
Attendants and
Groomsmen
- Assist Bride and Groom in details
- Takes direction from Bride, Groom,
Parents, Maid / Matron of Honor and Best Man
Last minute advice:
Brace yourself: Something
will go
wrong. Murphy loves a wedding!
Whether it's minor or major is all relative. The important
thing to remember is this: Let it go. Yes, that's right... Just let it
roll off your back.
Your family and friends
will support you. The professionals you've taken meticulous care in
hiring will support you. You should never even realize when something
may be amiss. But if you are, just let it go. If you fixate on it and
obsess over it, that can dampen the day like nothing else.
Relax. Enjoy. and Have
Fun!
