At the beach, the best camera is to use a point and shoot camera either film and digital over the SLR film and digital SLR cameras. SLRs which are single lens reflex cameras, when one presses the shutter button, the mirror inside the camera briefly goes down so light comes into the single lens reflex camera. Therefore with sandy beaches, the wind or people running on the beach will cause dust of sand to float into the air and can sneak between the lens and camera. If dirt gets into a digital camera sensors, do not panic. You can buy digital cleaning swabs and swab liquid to clean sensors. You may buy this at any camera shop.
Point and shoot cameras (either digital or film), are very easy to handle. When changing film from a point and shoot, it is best to get away from sandy and dusty areas. When film is all rewounded, put back into container in the darkest and coolest area as possible and away from the elements of the weather.
SLR cameras are best to use at night time with a powerful flash at 1/60 sec shutter speed minimus without a tripod. For speeds of 1/50 per sec. or lower, use a tripod. The key is expirimentation and try at different shutter speeds. SLRs are also good for waterfalls. The best shots must be done on tripod. Slower speeds, 1/50 sec or lower will show angel hair. Faster speeds will stop water speeds of the waterfall. Also try f-stops between f8 - f22. This depends on the time of day. All cameras have a built in light meter. Put on P (this is automatic setting), focus camera on your subject. Try shooting at the suggested metering on P. Then go to M (manual), try a few stops on shutter and f-stops above the suggested metering on P.
Enjoy your Honeymoon vacation.
